Choosing The Right Online BusinessCopyright © Francina Smit http://www.InHouseDollars.comChoosing The Right Online Business There are many online business opportunities available today and also many reasons people decide to begin a home business. Whether you are a senior citizen looking for something to supplement their retirement or a stay at home mom looking to make an income and take care of children, there are opportunities available. What is important is that you find an opportunity that works well for you. There are several opportunities out there, but not all of them work well for everyone. If you are not a good salesperson, then sales is not for you. But maybe you have great computer skills, if so, maybe you should look more to businesses that would utilize those skills. The real decision will come when you are deciding what type of online business opportunity you want to become part of. Are you looking to start an online business of your own from scratch or are you looking to join an already established business? If you are looking to set up your own business, you will need to decide what type of service you will provide or if you will sell a product. Think of those things that you already do well. If you have office experience, perhaps you could offer "virtual" types of services to businesses that need extra help without hiring another person in the office. You may be an experienced writer. If so, you could set yourself up to do freelance writing work. There are many websites available with information to help you know how to get started. Always research what you are looking to do completely, before you come to a decision. Take everything into consideration and take a good look at the pros and cons. If you are not looking to set up your own business, you can find an already established business to join. In the beginning of your search for an online business opportunity, you will probably run across many "too good to be true" ventures. These are also known as scams and there are several out there. It is always best to not stop with the first opportunity that you find. Look at several different opportunities and do research on all of them. There are many good opportunities out there; it will just take weeding through the bad ones to find a good solid opportunity. Preferably find one that operates with integrity and honesty – this may take some digging though! No matter if you decide to start your own online business or to work with one that is already established, you will need to do good research before you begin. A lot of people decide that they want to start an online business and then take on the first opportunity that comes to mind or pops up on the computer screen. As with most anything, good solid information is a must. It is your time and your money that you are going to be investing, you should be sure that you are picking the right opportunity before you waste either time or money. Starting a new business isn't easy and takes a lot of time and effort. It can however, be very rewarding, both financially and otherwise. Do your research, take the time to understand what is out there and then find the business that is right for you. Introduction To Internet MarketingCopyright © Francina Smit http://www.InHouseDollars.comIntroduction to Internet Marketing Since the Internet has become such a daily part of most people's lives, in the US and nearly everywhere, marketers have realized that the Internet has the potential to become one of the biggest marketing sites in the world. Most companies and marketers have already realized this potential, and nearly every company or business uses some kind of online marketing, or at least has a website, which is a part of Internet marketing. Internet marketing has become one of the leading sources for advertisements and other marketing methods in the world. What exactly is Internet marketing? It really is a very simple concept. Internet marketing is the marketing of products or services over the Internet. There are many different kinds of online marketing. Web advertising is when ads are placed directly on someone's web site. This type of marketing is also called Web Marketing. There is also search engine marketing (SEM) which uses search engines to increase the visibility of a certain website. There are many different sub-categories to this marketing focus, such as pay-per-click advertising, search engine optimization, affiliate marketing, e-mail marketing, and many others. A newer form of Internet marketing that has recently been discovered is the marketing method of blog marketing, which uses blog writers to add links to websites in their blogs, or puts a clickable ad on blog sites. Viral marketing is another type of online marketing, and both blog marketing and viral marketing are considered part of Social Media Marketing Methods, a very effective way of marketing. Internet marketing is considered part of the e-commerce business model. Businesses and companies like online marketing because more people are able to see the ad for less money. With a T.V. ad or other, more traditional advertisement methods, a time slot is chosen to run the ad, or the ad is displayed in a specific slot. People who go by that location, or turn on the T.V. at the right time see the ad, but people who don't do those things never see the ad. With Internet marketing, the ad is visible 24/7, and there is a greater chance of the ad receiving higher traffic, due to the circular nature of the Internet. However, online marketing will still take planning and forethought to be effective. There are several main differences in the types of marketing plans between Internet marketing and traditional marketing methods. First, traditional advertising usually is targeted towards groups of people, and online marketing is rightly geared towards the individual. Second, traditional marketing targets advertisements by demographics.. Third, online marketing is much easier to measure for levels of advertisement effectiveness. Lastly, online marketing gives instant results to ads, whereas offline advertisements might take weeks or months to figure out if anyone responded to the ad. For these reasons and more, Internet marketing is a great way to advertise. It is better for consumers because they are able to receive instant gratification and buying power from the advertisements. It can also be better for businesses because they can more easily and effectively market to consumers. Internet marketing is a better way to do business all-around. It is the fastest way to do shopping, do research, visit and even book your next vacation in this instant gratification world we live in. Starting An Online BusinessCopyright © Francina Smit http://www.InHouseDollars.comStarting An Online Business When you feel you're ready for your own online business, setting it up and getting it off the ground can often seem overwhelming. There are so many questions to ask yourself; "What kind of business do I want?" "Do I want to market a service or a product?" "What age bracket will be my biggest client base?" "How do I advertise?" Although all the hype stipulates that online business requires a "go, go go" attitude, try to set that aside for a while. Slow down, take a deep breath, and take the time to ensure you're doing things correctly. Do research and post on forums to learn from people who’ve been there and done that already. It’s free advise – take it. Deciding what kind of online business you want is your first step. You can choose to market a product and service combination, such as becoming a salesperson for, possibly a roofing company. You would need to set up a website for the purpose of generating leads, basically working off of commission. You might want to jump into the affiliate marketing industry. This is fast becoming a huge and bustling industry with many people making a very healthy full-time income from home. Your other option is online retailing, using your own site and/or sites like eBay and Amazon. Once you decide upon your business interest, as well as what kind of website you'll be using, you will want to focus on marketing. This will be the foundation of your business so make sure you spend enough time marketing. Does your product appeal to a younger generation? If so, your best bet is to create vibrant, "loud", up-to-date advertising. Use of multimedia is also highly recommended, such as adding video, sound, etc. to your advertisements. For targeting middle aged clientele, focus on a family image. Try to incorporate kids and pets, for example. It may sound a bit cheesy, but it's tried-and-true. If older folks are what you'll be looking for, try to keep the look of both advertisements and your website simple, clean, and classic. The older generation tends to prefer straight information, without all the smoke and mirrors. When it comes to advertising, you'll need to be creative. Instead of just creating a simple ad and hoping someone clicks on it, try updating your impression of advertising. One medium more people are starting to use is video. Maybe your product or service could be promoted by creating a video, posting it on YouTube, and then generating traffic to your video. For example, you could place a brief ad on (for example) craigslist.org, with a link to your video. Gone are the days when reading about a product and seeing its picture is enough. To really help your online business be successful, you'll need the rock-solid marketing that interactive or virtual advertisements can create. Looking at the whole picture, an inexperienced person may be tempted to give up on their online business before even trying it. There are so many opportunities for those who own their own business, though; you have to keep reminding yourself it will be worth it in the end. Investing the time, effort, and creativity to get your online business up and running now will be paying off sooner than you think. Then you will start enjoying the freedom only those working for themselves can. Home Business OpportunitiesCopyright © Francina Smit http://www.InHouseDollars.comHome Business Opportunities For many stay at home mothers, who have more than one child under the age of four, home business opportunities are their only option. These days a family of six or more cannot survive on one income and with the high cost of quality daycare, working outside of the house may not be an option. Depending on where you live, quality daycare can cost anywhere from $3,000 to $15,000 a year per child! So, unless you and your spouse are making six figures each it may not be worth it to enter the workforce. Working at home can save you money in other areas as well. The right home business opportunity can save you on dry cleaning bills, since you no longer have to dress for work. You will save at least $5.00 a day by eating lunch at home. No more commuting to work everyday so you will save a ton on gas or the cost of daily public transportation. Furthermore, you’ll have an extra 2 to 3 hours at home instead of commuting back and forth. Now that we have established that working at home is the most cost effective option for moms with multiple children, you must search for a legitimate home business opportunity. The first thing to do is to make a chart listing you skills, your interests, and what things set you apart from other people. Then brainstorm how you could take these skills and profit from them. Think about what you have to offer. Do you have a skill that others can benefit from? Research your community events calendars, community centers and classes. What is missing? Perhaps you can fill a gap in your community doing something that you enjoy while making a living at the same time. There are many things you can do with very little overhead. Do you have a skill you could teach to someone like art? Do you excel at a subject that you could tutor children or adults in? For a very minimal investment you could start teaching a class in you area of expertise from your home. You could expand it to local community centers or schools. Whatever you do, it will not work if you do not network. So get out there and meet your target audience. Go on online forums where your target audience would go and create a buzz. The Internet is a great way to create a buzz at little or now cost. If you start classes you can advertise for free on local events calendars. Many cities and towns have websites with free or low cost classified ads that you can use. Keep a list of all contacts and potential customers you come in contact with and keep them informed on your upcoming classes. If you are looking for great home business opportunities look inside yourself; see what you have to offer and create your own business. If you don't have a lot of money to invest in a business, start out small. It is better to grow your business in a steady fashion than to try and do it all at once and get in over your head. Also, you will have greater success, if you are doing something you are truly passionate about. Using Internet Marketing to Promote Your Online BusinessCopyright © Francina Smit http://www.InHouseDollars.comUsing Internet Marketing to Promote Your Online Business Increasingly, businesses are using internet marketing to promote their products or services. Some businesses use e-mail advertising, others may use banner ads placed on specific websites. Two commonly used and highly effective methods of internet advertising are pay-per-click search engine advertising and search engine optimization, or SEO. Both pay-per click and SEO have the same goal- to get a link to your website placed as high as possible on the search page. If you've ever used a search engine, you have probably noticed the column of ads on the right hand side of the search page. This form of internet marketing is known as pay-per-click and is exactly what the name implies. Advertisers open an account with the search engine, and bid on how much they are willing to pay for each potential customer who clicks on the ad. The more you are willing to pay, the higher on the column your ad will be placed. The ad will include a keyword and a brief description of the product or service the business is promoting. The great advantage of this sort of advertising is that it gets fast results. The downside to pay-per-click is that it can be expensive, and is mainly used by businesses with relatively high profit margins who can definitely afford to use this form of advertising. But many online business owners find that the results are worth the expense. Be advised though to study the system first to know what you’re doing otherwise it could become a very costly exercise. Search engine optimization is another effective form of Internet marketing. SEO means that the business is trying to get their website a top ten search engine postition. SEO involves the use of specific keywords written into short articles on your website or published elsewhere on the internet with a link to your website. Few people click on the second or third search page when they do an internet search, and many will not even want to scroll down the first page, so the higher your website appears, the more traffic you will get. You can also boost your search engine ranking by persuading the owners of other websites to link to yours. Trading links with related businesses is a common way of doing this. You may need to hire a service to help determine which keywords are most effective, or to help with composing your keyword articles, but it costs nothing for your website to come up on a search engine page. Your cost will be substantially less than with pay-per-click. The main disadvantage to SEO is the time factor. It will take a while for your website to make it into the search engine's top ten, but once it does, it becomes a veritable gold mine for attracting customers. Patience is a virtue with SEO, but it can be a highly profitable one. Pay-per-click and search engine optimization are both effective methods of internet marketing. Online businesses can use pay-per-click when they are first starting out for the fast results, then phase it out in favor of SEO as customers click on links that lead to their websites. Both methods have disadvantages, but once you've learned how to use them, they will bring many customers to your website and boost your online business considerably. Building Your Online BusinessCopyright © Francina Smit http://www.InHouseDollars.comBuilding Your Online Business Increasingly, internet-based businesses are giving much competition to more conventional bricks-and-mortar type businesses. Many more traditional businesses are also advertising on the internet to increase sales. Having an online business can be rewarding, but it does have some drawbacks. As with any business, there is going to be work involved. There are also many costs and risks associated with doing business online. You are going to need to deal with customers, either by e-mail or over the phone. You will also need to advertise your business. The internet is fast becoming the marketplace for the world, and you need to use it effectively. An online business takes a lot of work. Many internet businesses owners run their companies out of their homes. This can be fraught with peril, especially if you have children. If you have a home-based business, you should have a dedicated room to use as your office. You will need to make a set work schedule and stick with it. Your customers will need to know what hours you are available. If most of your business is done online, you will have to process orders and reply to e-mails. If you are not reliable, you will lose customers. Having children in the house can be a hazard if you do business from your home. You must teach them not to disturb you during your working hours unless there is an emergency. Even with an online business, you are going to have to deal with a certain number of phone calls. A screaming child in the background is very unprofessional and can be a turnoff to your customers. In order for your business to be successful, you are going to have to market it effectively. There are several different methods of using the internet to market an online business. One method is the use of pay-per-click search engine advertising. You open an account with a search engine and bid on how much you're willing to pay for each potential customer. The more you pay, the more prominently your ad is displayed on the search page. It can be expensive, but it gets fast results. You also have to know what you’re doing otherwise it may cost you a lot more than you planned for. Be sure to find out how the system works first. Another marketing method is search engine optimization, or SEO. The idea is to get your website ranked in the top ten sites of a search engine. SEO involves the use of keywords in the title and text of your website or publishing articles with the keywords on the Internet with links to your site. SEO takes longer to get results, but it costs nothing for your website to appear in a search engine. Pay-per-click and SEO both have their drawbacks, but once you've learned how to use them, they are both highly effective methods of marketing. Hard work and effective marketing are both vital to the success of your online business. You must maintain a home office and a regular work schedule, free from distractions, in order to have good relationships with your customers. You must also use effective internet marketing techniques in order to attract new business, whether you use pay-per-click, SEO, or some other method of advertising. Once you strike the right balance, you will find that owning an internet-based business is a rewarding way of making a living.
