This is a quote from the book Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. It is noteworthy that he placed “depression” in inverted commas which means that he wasn’t going to believe what the press called it but that he would form his own opinion and search for something positive to take from the situation. From his quote one can also assume that he believed that the playing field has been leveled by the global economic recession which created ways to make extra money for many.

In other words he was not “reacting” but “responding” to a new situation. He could see what thousands or even millions of others could not, that in destruction there are the seeds of a new creative activity, an “equivalent advantage”, and not only for Napoleon Hill, but for “everyone”.
